Rafael Medina Adalfio, a Venezuelan filmmaker, has made a significant mark as a cinematographer in independent cinema in Europe and New York. Recently, his passion for Venezuela led him to direct a documentary that highlights the efforts of those working in the agricultural landscapes of the Venezuelan Andes.
Before moving to the United States, Rafael honed his skills at the London Film School under the mentorship of renowned cinematographer Oliver Stapleton. Later, in Milan, Italy, he produced high-quality content for clients like TAG Heuer, Vogue Italia, and artists in design and fashion.
Rafael’s career includes notable projects such as “The Man Behind the Camera,” which won Best Cinematography at Sunscreen West 2021, and his collaboration on Mike Leigh’s “Mr. Turner,” showcased at the Academy Awards and the Cannes Film Festival. He has also worked on projects like “Rewind” and “Currican,” awarded at the Cans Film Festival in Spain.
Rafael developed the first series of educational films for the online GCSE platform, aimed at improving academic performance in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. This project reflects his commitment to film, education, and social impact.
